All families of students are expected to provide 30 hours per student each school year of volunteer support.
To apply for a volunteer position with the school, you will need to fill out the information below. Volunteers will be contacted during the summer months to set up a schedule and training, depending on the position that they are filling.

Please indicate all the areas where you are interested in volunteering, as some positions are limited in number.

DIRECT INVOLVEMENT WITH STUDENTS AND TEACHERS
|
|
Specialty Assistants (Specialty volunteers are needed to support specialty teachers. They are able to reliably commit to one-two hours a week on a consistent day, so as to develop a sense for the routine and a relationship with the students and teacher. They are able to assist students while maintaining patience and positivity. Experience in the area being taught is helpful. In particular, skilled musicians who are willing to be strings assistants are needed.)

Calm and Return Program (Calm and return volunteers are available to sit with students who may need a calming break during the day. They will be specially trained on how to work with students based on the school's program for working on student behavior. Volunteers will be assigned a regular schedule for approximately two hours a week.)

|
Literacy Volunteers (Literacy volunteers help read with students and provide assessments and screenings, as indicated. They are willing to receive training, patient and consistent. Volunteers will be assigned a regular schedule for approximately two hours a week.)
|
|
|
Math Volunteers (Math volunteers work with students who need additional support in mathematics and provide assessments and screenings, as indicated. They are willing to receive training, patient and consistent. Volunteers will be assigned a regular schedule for approximately two hours a week.)

|
Assessment Volunteers (Assessment volunteers are specially trained to help administer state-mandated assessments. They will be needed during particular times of the school year when assessments must be completed. They will provide additional support to teachers and staff in administering tests and working with students who complete assessments.)
|
|
|
|
Substitute Teachers (This is a paid position and will require attending an orientation meeting at the beginning of the school year. Substitutes will be contacted by teachers as needed. Pay is $70 a day.)
|
|
|
COMMITTEE SERVICE (Volunteers serving on committees should be committed to attending regular meetings and working independently and as small groups between meetings. These individuals will work with staff on various aspects of the school life and culture. All of these committees will be supported through the Family Council structure.)

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT (Volunteers offering operational support will be needed for varying amounts of time, depending on the position. Assistants in the front office or food services program will be asked to commit to a regular weekly schedule of 2-3 hours/week. Food Service volunteers will also need to have training and a food handlers permit. Medical screening volunteers will be needed periodically and need specialized training. Volunteers willing to work on projects, such as plays, sewing or construction will be contacted as needed.)
